Thun Saray, president of the Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC), said, civil organizations support a free and fair election and all political parties can tackle this challenge.

Speaking in a Thursday press conference on the recommendations for the 5th Mandate of the 2013 National Assembly Election Process, held at the Imperial Garden Villa and Hotel in Phnom Penh, Thun Saray, said, civil organizations also expressed their concerns over the unfair political practice in which, Sam Rainsy, was not given a chance to return to the country and join the election.

The imbalance of an election process especially over the appointment of members in National Election Committees (NEC), and the inaccuracy of voting lists which will have a strong effect on the rights of voters are also major concerns to them.

The civil parties are urging the NEC to seek a good solution over registration lists and rights of voters.

They believe the NEC will start meeting with different political parties and other relevant civil organizations to talk about any decisions and plans to remedy such issues.

However, if the NEC fails to seek adequate solutions before the Election Day, the organizations worried that voters will lose trust in the system and will seek justice.
