Phnom Penh City Hall agreed to allow Unions to congregate at Democratic Park in commemoration of the 127th International Labor Day.
In a letter dated Monday, retired Phnom Penh Governor, Kep Chuk Tema, said, Unions and workers could gather and stage a parade from Democratic Park along Preah Sisowat Blvd to the National Assembly to give a petition, but the gathering must end after that.
The letter also stated that Union leaders should pay close attention to their decisions during the rally.
Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Confederation of Unions (CCU) and Ath Thon, President of the Coalition of Cambodian Apparel Worker's Democratic Union (C.CAWDU), had written a letter to city hall previously, requesting the rally be held at Olympic National Stadium to celebrate Labor Day, but was only approved for Democratic Park.
The letter also demanded that worker's wages move up to $150, as well as other issues concerning working conditions.
